No accounts, no database, no selling data. Here is exactly what happens to what you type.
Stored in your browser only
The generator saves your draft inputs and your last 20 letters in your browser's local storage, so they are still there when you come back. This data never leaves your device unless you generate or review a letter. You can remove it at any time:
Sent to the AI model
When you press a button to write, rewrite or review a letter, the text of that request (job title, company, your experience, the job ad or your letter) is sent through Vercel AI Gateway to an OpenAI language model to produce the result. CoverLetterPro does not store these requests. Please do not paste sensitive personal data such as ID numbers into the forms.
If you upload a résumé, Word and text files are read in your browser and only their text is sent; PDFs and photos are sent as files. Either way the content goes to the AI model once to produce a summary and is not stored by CoverLetterPro.
The instant checks (keyword extraction, the cover letter checker score, the word counter and all templates) run entirely in your browser.
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless and does not collect personal data or the contents of any form.
Rate limits
To keep the free tool available, the AI endpoint briefly tracks request counts per IP address in memory. These counts are not logged or stored.
