Standard cover letter template

Works for most jobs. Four paragraphs, about 250 words when filled in.

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am applying for the Operations Coordinator role at Crescent Property Group. I was drawn to the company by the way you have grown to 40 buildings without losing your reputation for fast repairs.

I bring four years coordinating maintenance for a 600-unit portfolio. Most recently I cut average repair turnaround from nine days to four by rebuilding our vendor schedule.

Your posting asks for vendor management, scheduling and tenant communication, which is exactly the work I do every day. I would bring the same care and results to your team.

Thank you for your time. I would welcome the chance to talk about how I can help Crescent Property Group.

Sincerely,
Alex Morgan

What every template here gets right

  • Single column, plain text. Nothing that an applicant tracking system could misread.
  • A reason in the first line. Why this company, not "I am writing to apply".
  • A slot for a result. The one thing a template cannot supply is your proof, so every template makes you add it.
  • A short close. Thanks and a clear next step, no grovelling.

For the reasoning behind each part, see how to write a cover letter and the cover letter format guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best cover letter template?

A plain, single-column letter with a greeting, three or four short paragraphs and a sign-off. Fancy designs with columns, icons or tables look nice but can confuse applicant tracking systems and rarely impress recruiters.

Should I use a Word or Google Docs template?

Either is fine if the layout is simple. Paste the text into a clean document, use a standard font at 11–12pt with one-inch margins, and save as PDF unless the employer asks for .docx.

Do I need my address at the top?

Not any more. Your name, phone, email and a LinkedIn or portfolio link are enough. A full postal address is optional, and many applicants leave it off for privacy.
